District H Spotlight: Lindale Park Civic Club

Constituent Spotlight • August 26, 2011

Council Member Gonzalez’ home neighborhood, Lindale Park is often referred to as a hidden jewel in our city. The Civic Club boundaries are 610 to the north, Moody Street to the south, Robertson Street on the east and Fulton Street on the West. During the 2011 year, LPCC focused on preserving the neighborhood, improving their financial outlook, fostering a sense of community and continuing to take pride in their neighborhood.

Some of the highlights of events throughout the year were the Annual 4th of July parade with over 1500 attendees, a Christmas party, a Spring Festival and a return of the annual National Night Out. In partnership with the community and Council Member Gonzalez, LPCC was able to work to keep the Irvington Fire Station open during renovations when the original plan called for it to be closed down. The Civic Club also took a lead role in monitoring the neighborhood for ordinance violations, reporting over 70 the City of Houston this year. Finally, the club was able to retool its financial planning and ensure a healthy financial future for the organization.

Lindale Park Civic Club always welcomes new members and can be found online at www.lindalepark.org. On August 24, a new board of directors was elected and will continue the great work of 2011.
