This weekend, Houston will be host to a 10 city tour of the ‘CleanWeb Hackathon’. This will be an event where technology industry leaders will gather to demonstrate the impact of applying information technology to resource constraints, with the intent of accelerating cleantech development. I encourage everybody to go to their website, cleanwebhack.com, and become involved in the discussion to better our city.
This past Monday, Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, State Representative Sylvester Turner, and I hosted a community fundraiser on behalf of John Branch. He is a leader in the Independence Heights community and last week his house, tragically, burned down. He has been involved in various endeavors in Independence Heights to ensure that the streets and children stay safe. I was glad to see that he had a good attendance at this fundraiser, and it was a heart-warming example of a community coming together to help each other out.
This Saturday, GO Neighborhoods will be hosting a brunch celebrating the National Historic District Designation of the Thomas Street Clinic and Street Topper unveiling. It will begin at 10:00am at 2000 Thomas St., and I invite everybody to join us! If you have any questions, please call my office at 832-393-3003.
