Ed Gonzalez was elected to his first Houston City Council term in 2009. In 2011, the voters of District H re-elected him for his second term with an overwhelming 76% of the vote. The Council Member is assigned to committees that help him improve public safety, neighborhood protection, education, and quality of life for his neighbors.
Ed is a member of all the City Council Committees: Public Safety (PS) which he chairs, Budget and Fiscal Affairs (BFA), Ethics, Elections, and Council Governance (EECG), Housing, Sustainable Growth, & Development (HGSD), Quality of Life (QoL), and Transportation, Technology, & Infrastructure (TTI).
Ed was also selected by Mayor Annise Parker to serve as Mayor Pro-Tem when council responsibilities and committee assignments were made in January 2012. He previously served as Vice Mayor Pro-Tem and was selected by his peers in January of 2010.
