Ed is a member of the Houston City Council Budget and Fiscal Affairs Committee. The Committee has jurisdiction over all fiscal matters and initiatives to improve management and efficiency of City service delivery. Its scope includes Annual Budgets, matters related to Tax Increment Reinvestment Zones, regulated utilities, strategic purchasing and other procurement processes. The Committee also receives quarterly reports on the three pension systems that provide defined benefit plans for City employees.
Ed has participated heavily in the committee’s Budget Workshops, where each city department’s budget is carefully analyzed and core assessment is performed. Ed’s membership on this important committee equips him with a depth and breadth of knowledge of Houston’s city government that allows him to make more informed decisions about public policy direction.
